Does VSL#3 "go bad" when it hits it's expiry date?

Quick question for the experts on this forum.
I recently came across some VSL#3 that has an expiry date not too far from today. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this product and what the effects of taking it after the expiry date has passed?
My assumption is that it might lose some of it's bacteria population, but not necessarily "go bad".

It has and will be properly stored as directed, so that should not be a factor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I would hate to waste anything this expensive.

I think I was reading on the box on one that they can only guarantee the number of bacteria before the expiration date or something like that, so I would guess maybe they won't be as potent or can't be sure they are after the expiration
