what next?

I started to flare badly a few weeks ago and my doc put me on Pred eventually upping this to 60mg for the last week. While it has stablisied things for me I'm still having 12-14 BMS in he morning, no blood just lots and lots of mucus and cramps. I've lost about half a stone in the last week and feel very weak and dehydrated.

I go back to my doc tomorrow. Just wondering what the next step is now if the oral pred isn't cutting down on the BMs? Is it a hospital trip to get the flare under control?

Any advice or thoughts would be great.

 

Steve...were you on all the meds listed in your signature when you started to flare? Are you still on them?..asacol and rectal meds...which ones?

I think you should ask the doc to have you do stool samples to check for any invaders.

So the steroids suddenly seem to have kicked in after a week....im waiting on a bed to go into hospital for I-V treatment...suddenly i feel much better, wondering now should i ring my doc and hold tough at home and see if i continue to improve
