Should I taper down on the Asacol?

Hi all:

I have been taking 8 Asacol a day (4 in the morn and 4 at night) for awhile (months) now.  I started at 6 originally, bumped to 9 and then went to 8.  I am skipping Rowasa every 3rd night and have been in solid remission since April (well, I have the occassional period induced blip but things go back quickly).

I do have friends visiting in Sept and a family vacation in Oct so I was going to wait to taper the enemas further until after that (after consulting with you guys).  But what about the Asacol?  I have a script from my GI for 12 a day and he leaves it my decision when I need to bump up or taper down.  Would it be best to just leave well enough alone until after all these events?  I do know the Asacol helps as I was on it alone before I started Rowasa.  It did not 'fix' all my symptoms but it helped, the Rowasa knocked them out.

I think I'd rather wait but at the same time I don't want to take more meds than I need.

I'm thinking stay w/ what works. I am skewed b/c I was doing well, tapered Rowasa and now can't get rid of small amts of blood. So I'm saying, stick w/ it. Good luck!
