Antibiotics

Do you mean positive results, UC-wise?
My son was on Flagyl for 14 days in Spring and it seemed to help him get out of a flare.

Yes, I mean has anyone had antibiotics help them out of a flare or cure them? The pharmacist was telling me about some antibiotics the other day and it interested me a lot. I am currently trying Flagyl (7 days) but I am not too hopeful. My doctor said I could be dealing with something bacterial that is causing my UC symptoms to act up but regardless, I have UC and that's here to stay! I always thought if it were something bacterial that *maybe* I could be cured.

Have most people tried Flagyl? I've had UC for almost 5 years and I've never tried it before... I did however have it over 5 years ago when I had BV prior to all these UC issues.

Sorry to still be in denial after all of these years. I know it is ridiculous but I feel like I should try everything before accepting that I am chronically ill.

I have had an extreme positive initial response to Flagyl, Cipro and Vancomycin.    Have been tested for C-dif, but no signs of that.  Just mentioning that because when people here of my positive response to antibiotics they mention C-dif.

It seems obvious to me (atleast for some) that there is a bug in there, or there is an unnussual response to a bug.  The problem is that the UC always comes back a few weeks after antibiotics are stopped.

My Doctor has been against antibiotics.  Even though they really, really help, I tend to agree.  The problem is that you can be susceptable to resistant strains and could end up in real trouble.
