Switched GIs, can't get an appointment for 8 weeks

OK, so I switched GI's because mine moved and i don't want to drive an hour for an appointment. Well I called to get a first appt with my new GI and there is an 8 week wait list. The problem is, im starting a flare and want new medication. It really is irritation to have to wait so long for an appointment. I'm think about getting an appt with my regular doc, and see if he will prescribe me something. Any suggestions?

I would definitely try the PCP and explain the situation.
Otherise, can you try to see if your old one would prescribe without you seeing him/her? Mine would, if I just wanted renewed prescriptions on things I'd had before.
If all else failed I'd drag my butt that hour away for one single appointment - I wouldn't let the flare escalate!
