So my gi did a abdomanal x ray and it came back that i have lots of dry stool in my colon. They said I'm constipated which could be why I'm having more D. They have been telling me this for a year and last year I did a clean out and than they want me to take myralax. I hate this stuff. I would take a cap full or half a cap full in the morning everyday. This made me have to go D all morning. The PA said it will get better once all the poop is out. Has anyone had this problem and is this true. They want me to start doing this again because i stopped because I couldn't stand it. Maybe this is part of my problem but I don't need more thinks causing D I have enough of that lol

It was constipation that got me in to see the doctor...that's when I was diganosed with UC 5 months later. I was told the end of my colon was swollen. After the colonoscopy I was started on Masaline enema once at bed time. The constipation didn't come back.

Did your doc check for swelling? Are you taking enemas or suppositores? If your swollen the laxitive isn't going to help the casue of the consitpation.

they told me that D can slip around an impaction and you can be severely impacted without realizing it.

I've never done any enemas or suppositories. Funny huh?  I've uc for almost two years and was never even suggested this by a doc. I don't know if it is because I have uc throught my whole colon.

No, it doesn't matter how high, the rectum will always be affected and oral 5ASA meds cannot reach there.

Ask for rectal meds....it's not funny your doc hasn't ever suggested it, it's rather unfortunate. But, you should ask FOR them....they've been suggested here enough.
