How do I know if I'm having a cramp or pain from an inflamed rectum when I pass a bowel movement? What's the difference?

To me, my cramping starts low in the gut and it feels like someone is holding onto my colon and twisting. My rectal pain feels like a burning, sharp shooting pain.

My rectal pain feels like an electric shock when thick formed stool passes through the rectum. Usually the rectum fires out the poop pretty quick when it is inflamed, so it is quick and sharp. Cramping tends to be less sharp but lingers over a larger area.
