HOW LONG DID REMICADE TAKE TO HEAL YOUR COLON?

Just wondering because it has helped symptom wise but my doc says it isn't healing my colon. I've been on it since July 2009 and had my scope in March 2010. I asked to stay on it longer because it has somewhat given me my life back and now she wants to scope me again and if my colon isn't healed somewhat than she wants me to go off it because of the colon cancer risk of my colon being inflammed.

I'm scared to go off it and try humira and the humira not work at all.

Don't be scared! I was too, terrified actually. But it turned out to be for the best. Remicade never did heal my colon... By the time I did start Humira, I figured "Why keep taking Remicade, it's not doing anything???" It was like risking a lot for nothing in return. If Humira doesn't work for you, you can always give the trial drug a shot, or opt for surgery. Humira carries less risk than Remicade, & you're not likely to build antibodies to it as it's all human proteins. If it was between Humira or MLN trial drug, I'd try Humira first.

I completely understand where you are coming from.  I would probably feel the same if I were you.  That said your doctor is right in recommending another scope to check again.  Let's be patient and see what the doc and the path sees and take it from there.  Worrying will only make it worse.  Good to hear you are getting your life back.

MYUC-not really worrying it is just we have talked about this for awhile and I'm just preparing myself in case the scope comes back as not healed than I want to be prepared on what to do next. I see her the end of the month and just weighing my options. She wanted me to go on the trial drug and off the remicade in March and I've held out but now i know she will recommend going off of it because she said she would give me acouple months more and if it doesn't heal my colon than I need to think of something else. She said this at the doc appointment two weeks ago.

Just preparing my self for all options so I'm not suprised or scared.

Remicade helped my symptoms for a few months; I was sure that I was close to remission. Then it stopped doing anything at all. I had a scope shortly after it started losing its effect and found my colon to be in worse shape than it was 6 months prior. I hope they find things are getting better for you next time they look. Humira has had zero effect for me, and at this time I'm looking into surgery.

slight-I hope you find somethig that works or surgery works and you get your life back. The best of luck
