Hi everyone,
Tonight I had my first allergic reaction ever--EXTREMELY sore throat, swollen tongue, tingly lips. I've been fluish all week and wrote it off as part of that, until it was brought to my attention it was most likely a reaction. I've since taken benadryl and hope the swelling goes down, otherwise I will take myself to the hospital.
Now, earlier this week I went to urgent care after giving myself Humira and developing a HUGE bruise and major skin irritation (there was a streak and i was worried i had a blood infection). No infection, but the irritation is directly in the shape of a bandaid--so, I'm guessing the latex caused this. In fact, days later you can still see the shape.
Earlier today, right before my reaction, I gave myself my B12 shot, making sure not to use a band-aid. Now, the needles are latex free, but I'm wondering about the top of the medicine vial where you poke in the syringe...I've done this twice before, though, with no reaction. But I've also used bandaids for 22 years with no reaction.
Has any developed any allergies over the course of their treatment?? I've been lucky that I've always been able to answer "no" when asked about allergies, but now I'm worried and I can't quite pinpoint what is going on. Any advice/stories would be great!
