This article state they found a chemical common amoung long term remission. Hopefully This will move us all forward!

It's strange since it seems that aspirin-line medicin can inhibit production of this chemical into our body.

And most of us use acid5-aminosalicilic meds...
So do our meds keep our inflamation down but also block our way into remission ?!

Prostaglandins produce inflammation as well as regulate inflammation. To find ONE that helps compared to countless others that cause inflammation is helpful.

I wouldn't say that the 5ASA meds would hinder treatment or remission...unless, for some that could be an issue.

Maybe lower dosages of 5ASA is the key compared to high dosages....

yrs ago I read one GI stating that the problem with the majority of GI's treating their IBD patients was they were not giving them high enough doses of 5ASA for example, and that was why so many patients had trouble reaching/staying in remission...just another take on the theory....BTW 5ASA is completely different than asa found in aspirin-type meds. It's strongly recommended that IBDers avoid asa meds like aspirin, advil, ect as they tend to promote bleeing in the bowels.
