We moved to Italy from Canada a few months ago and my daughter with UC has been flaring pretty much since. Her pediatric GI prescribed her an oral steroid called "clipper" which is an entric coated pill for delayed release. It's more locally absorbed and less systemic than pred (though there is still some systemic absorption of course). She takes one 5mg pill where as she would have been on about
16ml of pred. It's been quite effective so far.
Does anyone know WHY this is not available in North America? I guess it's similar to entocourt but I've heard that that is not really effective for UC (more so for CD)? It's not budoniside.
It's very confusing and I'm pretty upset that we have given her two courses of pred in the past when she could have had this if it had been available?
Has anyone else in Europe used this med?

I have no idea why some are available somewhere and others here there but not everywhere. I was helped GREATLY by oral Entocort with my distal UC, which makes me think an Entocort steroid enema would be a godsend. Oops, not available in the USA!!!
