Thanks for sending this link. Though this is not a new theory, the advancement of technology and identification at the cellular level will continue to illuminate the pathogenesis of UC/Crohn's. As I mentioned in a prior post, I wouldn't be surprised if a specific bacteria may be identified as was seen in H. Pylori and the onset of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.

I don't think bacteria causes the onset of GERD...it's a mechanical problem that can result in possible esophageal and throat erosion/disease, cancer, etc....depending on which bacteria is present in that area, influenced by the stomach acid (at least, that's how I understand it). Two separate issues, together, not good.
