6mp, skin rash and Elidel

Shortly after starting 6mp 4 years ago, I developed a red, itchy, bumpy rash under my nose, around my mouth, on my chin and along my chin line. I went to the doctor, got it under control with strong steroid creams and was maintaining it with Elidel Cream. I have been on Elidel for 2 years or so. I was reading up on it and I what I have read sort of scares me. On every site I went to, it says to not use Elidel long term as it may increase the risk of melanoma or other malignancies. Now I am not a vain person, but the thought of skin cancer on my face is disconcerting! I stopped the Elidel about 3 days ago and of course the rash came back.

Has anyone else used Elidel and if so, has your doctor told you anything about the possible complications? Have you had rashes that you were able to maintain other ways? My doc told me that long term use of steroid creams are not ideal because over time it can atrophy the skin. Mild otc steroid creams such as Cortisone does nothing for the rash. I already use a very mild cleanser (Cetaphil), I do not use moisturizer on my face because it seems even the mildest form irritates the rash (yes, I've tried all the recommendations that people have given to me when I asked this before here on HW), I do not wear make up on that section of skin.

I am think I am going to go see my doc to have her refer me to a dermatologist. But I'm not sure what a derm can do for me concerning this rash if it's medicinally induced. Has anyone else ever had rashes associated with the 6mp?

My primary thinks it might be a side effect of 6mp because I started getting it only on the areas stated above after I began the 6mp.

Sherry, I am starting also to have a rash on my neck, I don't know if it is humira related or not. I have been on humira for 9 months now. Yu would think i would of developed a rash before that if it is related. Who knows. It is so itchy. I put on it this morning desitin and the itchyness subsided a little.

No not yet. I don't go back until Feb. It has already been itchy for a week, but if it isn't any better next week, I am going to call and see if I can get my appointment moved up.
