azathioprine and allopurinol combo.

I cannot get my UC under control. The ASA drugs make it worse. 100 mg. of Azathioprine since September has not made it better, my liver toxicity levels are at 213 and normal is under 40. I now have mono. GI is reducing my dose to 50 mg., and considering adding Allopurinol
(a gout medication) to boost the effectiveness of the Azathioprine on my colon. Does anybody have experience with this combination? It's this or remicade. I am also in college and wonder if I can manage remicade infusions and classes, or will I need to take the semester off.

I was on it for about a month and a half. It increased the therapeutic range of my 6mp while lowering the toxicity. I could never get into the right range without my liver enzymes increasing. At first it did wonders and my numbers went up, but unfortunately I developed an allergic reaction to it. This combo is becoming more mainstream and it seems to work.
