endoscopic removal vs colectomy. duh?

so gi doc told me today i have a tubulovillous adenoma in my rectum. only biopsied it during my last cscope because it didn't look too significant. said he was in a quandry because if he had gotten back a biopsy from a flat area with biopsies that showed a biopsy he would recommend a colectomy no questions. but he said that since i'm young (29) and have only been diagnosed with UC for four years (started UP now pancolitis) that the growth makes him wonder if he should recommend colectomy. he said if he had seen the growth in a 50 year old he wouldn't have been as alarmed. isn't it still common for young people to get these kinds of growths? i certainly don't want a colectomy if there's no significant evidence to show that it must come out no questions asked. so now i have another cscope in january and he will try to snare the current growth out as long as he can distinctly see all the margins. than i'll come back 6 months later to biopsy that area to make sure it's all out. he scared me when he even thought about colectomy as an option since he said there could very well be cellular changes in otherwise flat areas of my colon that weren't biopsied. i'm pretty scared actually!
