I suggest getting off prednisone as soon as possible. You may not find the extent of damage that prednisone has done to your body until years later. In fact, you may never find out. Prednisone ages the body. And since we age anyway there is no proof that the increase in aging process due to prednisone is really from having been on prednisone or would have happened anyway.
That's my take after finding out that I now have borderline glaucoma and slight loss of connective tissue in one of my hip joints.
I had been on pred for only a little over three months. My highest dosage was 40mgs. My average dosage was 25mgs. I too was ped dependent. So I did fecal transplantation, went into remission immediately, and tapered off the pred. (I could have stopped the pred immediately after doing fecal transplantation if it weren't that it's dangerous to do so.)
