Hi,
I used to come on here for my Mum as she has colitis/crohns, she has been really good all year though luckily. Today she found a lump in her groin/leg area and also noticed slight blood when she went to the toilet again. We are away from home at the moment as we are staying with family and planned to stay for about a month. Anyway, i phoned her colitis nurse from home who recomended taking 6 asacol per day instead of 2, but to also get the doctor to take specific bloods and let her know the results (as she knew we are away from home) So we went to the local doctor as a temporary patient, and just cannot believe how rude he was! Basically he felt the lump, asked if she has other symptoms which is when we said she has colitis and has noticed blood today. He said we should just go home (100 mikes away and not convenient at mo) to have treatment there, when we said it not convenient he said.. well it is serious as probably cancer! Wouldn't do bloods we asked for (what nurse told us to do) only what he wanted....so we walked out and are having to drive 100 miles tommorow to see my Mums regular doctor.
So, obviously we are now worried sick that it is cancer...but how could he diagnose that from just feeling it? Has anyone please got any advice as to whether this could happen due to colitis and a possible flare up?
Grateful for any answers, Thanks, Samantha
