Hi guys, I haven't been here for a while, not because of remission, just didn't want to think about it. Anyway, I went to naturopath last week, he was recommended by woman who he helped. First, he took some blood from my finger and told me that I don't have enough of oxygen (or something in by blood) and some minor staff like mold in my blood. Then he did computer diagnosis, where he checked each organ separately. Anyway, treatment he wants to do is infrared sauna 2-3 times a week, oxygen blood infusion and shark cartilage shot once a week. Have anybody heard of anything like that? Let me just say, that the woman who recommended him almost had a liver failure, but now her blood work shows a better results, but she goes to his office 3 times per week. Any ideas?

Is this person a MD? i Haven't ever heard of anything like this but it sounds interesting. I don't know how I would feel about those weird treatments. Are you going to do it? It may have some truth to it or it may be quackary. It's sad that we have to question whether a doctor is trying to help or whether they are trying to make a few bucks off our failing health. Wouldn't he draw blood from a vein? Isn't a finger prick mostly used for checking iron/glucose?

A friend of mine uses some kind of "health advisor" who promotes health by enema.... and through my friend he'd advised me to try shark cartilage enemas.
I feel like I put enough things in there as it is; this idea was a bit far out for me.....I passed.

He was looking at blood cells at microscope. And tells what you have by looking at shapes and concentration of cells as I understood. Its also a pricy, that's why i pass for now. 350 is visit, and treatment is 500 per visit. Its too much for me knot knowing if it will help or not.

We all have serious flaws in our bodies...try to find the balance to function as well as we can. But, he won't cure you..

Quincy, we are not talking about cure, remission is the word. I tried many things, and still looking for one that helps, and im not talking about meds.

Seems like a lot of money to give away. If you are serious about the infrared saunas (and I have read positive things about them), would it be possible or you to buy one? If you are going to pay $1000+ to a doc, you may as well buy one and have it for yourself to keep. Have you tried diet change/specific food elimination (grains, yeast and processed foods, in particular)? That is free :)

can't say I've heard of those treatments, but I've heard good things about naturopaths. btw, are they not covered by insurance?

why not share your fear of what he recommended, and the cost with him. He should be able to show you positive examples of those treatments, via the internet or others who he has treated. Maybe he has recommendations that are not as pricey?

Or what if you tried one of his three recommendations first. My concern would be if you did all 3, and felt great, how would you know which of the three "fixed you"

My main issue with this "treatment" regime is the shark cartilage- where does it come from??? The shark population is in pretty rough shape these days, between sport fishing & practices like shark finning. Not to mention, sharks are one of the least humanely treated animals, in terms of catching, killing, etc. I could no way EVER use anything that directly results in harming another species to that extent. Don't get me wrong- I'm no bleeding heart vegan, but I buy locally raised humanely treated beef, I use a community sponsored fishing program for local fish, we garden... Also, personally I feel that naturopaths are about as legit as a 3 dollar bill.

My naturopath took blood to have a national lab to do the food sensitivity testing. Otherwise, he suggested going to my regular doc for a full blood workup -- and told me what to ask for -- so that it would be covered by insurance, then bring the results back to him. I thought that was an honorable way to deal with it.

How did he check organs by computer analysis?? That sounds weird, questionable.
And that's really high cost. My first visit was $350 I think, then $80 each appointment after that after. But I don't live in a metropolitan area, I'm sure it would be more there. I don't think their services are ever covered by insurance.

I think naturopaths can help. I was concerned when I realized the four friends who had gone to him were all told exactly the same thing, same treatment, regardless of what they went to see him for. That makes me suspicious. But everyone is feeling better...perhaps many ailments are actually the result of what we ingest.

Oh, and I also chose this naturopath because he had published articles about treatment of digestive diseases.

I was impressed by that.

My first gut reaction is that it sounds like snake oil.

Having said that, I would probably try to do research on what he is recommending to see if there is any science behind it... any controlled studies that show this actually can be beneficial. If there is no scientific evidence, it is just based on anecdotal accounts of benefit and/or guess work. Not something I would want to spend my hard earned money on.
