seem to having a trend - about a month before a flare my shoulders, wrists, fingers and hips begin to ache - worse at night. is this just a coincidence - any one with similar symptoms?

I am going through this right now. I am in a arthritic flare and now a UC flare started today

I have come to the realization that my hips hurt about 1-3 months before a flare, especially at night and especially on the left side. I have had other joint issues but believe they were related to Prednisone and Remicade withdrawal, or something related to those meds..... I guess the good thing maybe is that they are a warning sign and maybe it is possible to head off a flare before it gets too bad when you start to have those aches.

does anyone take anything for the discomfort? i take tylenol at night once in awhile, and also started my hycort enema's again since the flare has begun.

I just take Tylenol PM and start up on the Rowasa (mesalamine enemas).

I had arthritis symptoms when tapering off pred. I tapered too fast.

Voltaren (Rx) cleared up the temporary arthritis for me, when I was younger and would get those symptoms.

Thank you for asking this! I have the same thing, horrible joint aches and pains before and moderate bad during. I had some PT prior to my dx and I learned some great "tricks" to help with the discomfort, but nothing is helping much. I take Tylenol but it also does not do much.

I strongly recommend that you see a rheumatologist. Inform him about your IBD. In my oppinion they are 99% related.
