Anyone get a bit of swelling under humira pen site?

I've been using Humira now for around 18 months- to be honest i don't think it does a thing for me anymore but it doesn't give me any noticable side effects and as I will probably get surgery pretty soon anyway,  I am not going to risk getting even worse by pulling the plug on it just yet.  (Really not interested in trying other biologics- already failed Remi a couple years ago.)  But this morning for the first time ever I got a bit of swelling at the subcutaneous injection site- sort of a little tiny mini-pregnancy or beer belly (lol) looking bulge of about 2 inches diameter, in the injection spot which was a couple inches up and to the right of my belly button.  No redness or bleeding at the site like I occasionally get when I hit a vein or something.  Anyway, just curious if this is anyone else gets this.  I assume it will drop off as the day goes on, but it's still there after 3 hours.

 

No, I haven't experienced this- I'm due for a shot tomorrow & will keep an eye on the site! Stupid meds, they drive you crazy after a while, huh? The Humira pens needles are so fine & tiny, half the time I swear it hasn't even gone thru my skin!

I'm sort of in the same boat- not exactly sure how much good the Humira & other meds are doing, but darned if I'll stop! I haven't had a scope in a couple years, so only that will truly tell. I mean, day-today I'm alright- I use Immodium once a week or so, just to get to work. But overall I feel good- sleep thru the night, not in pain, labs look good, etc. The usual AM bathroom rush, urgency, etc. for a couple hours, then it's generally stops for the day. Have you spoken with a surgeon yet? Are you seriously contemplating it? I'm sure I'm not in a clinical remission, but I think I've become so used to my "bathroom issues", that they've just become a part of my day to day life now, & don't impact it much.

Good luck to you- it does wear one down, no? If I were on pred, & dependent on it even at a low dose, I too would most likely schedule surgery. I swore I would not take it again, after 3 long courses. Which took me forever to wean off of, & made me absolutely batty to boot. I would prefer to live without meds than go on a steroid again. Keep us posted as to how the scope turns out!
