Well, my second colonoscopy in two years shows again...no polyps, no ulcers and totally clear. I was on Remi for five years. My doc started with the big guns which proved to be successful and now my new doc has just decreased my Asacol from 8 pills a day to 6. It was a tough decision to take the heavier meds, but it's paid off for me...for now at least!

Wow! That's great!
So.... do I understand you to mean you more or less started with Remi and are working you're way "down the ladder"....?
My GI had spoken to me about
this approach and.... if this is what you did, it sounds as if it was a good thing!

Yes, that's pretty much what he did. Because when I started Remi it was not approved for UC, I had to go through the usual gamut of meds; Asacol, Pred, Imuran -- but it was all within about
a six month time frame so he could get me on the Remi. He was on the trial drug board, so I guess I can call myself a guinea pig, but it worked in my favor. His object was to wean me off of the Remi slowly, but the reaction to it made it a quick adjustment. Then he put me on the Asacol until we could do a cscope to see what was going on. Then I found out I'd have to change insurance, so we decided to let my new GI do the scope. I'm going to email Dr. Lawson (my old GI) just how well the results were from the scope. My new GI couldn't believe it either!

Lonie please give me hope. Two day ago I had my first c-scope after 2 years on remicade, and still not in endoscopic remission, much better than it was wen i was flaring, but stil erosions and pseudopolips on descending colon. My doctor was expecting clear scope, because I'm 2 years in clinical remission, with perfect blood tests, and she was little disappointed, and let me stay one more year on remicade before next c-scope.
How was your experience with remicade, and with your first c-scope on remicade, were you from the beginning on endoscopic remission, or just one year before weaning off remi??...
