Wasn't sure the past few days if it was hemmies..today I'm sure it's the UC, I also have mucus..have a call into GI. Guesses on my next step?

No, just the lialda for now...I had an appt set up for net week anyway becaue we are getting ready for a cruise in April, little nervous about being out of the country & the chance of a flare, KWIM?

Sorry to hear that. It is always such a bummer when I start bleeding again. I highly suggest Rowasa enemas. I start doing them nightly at the first sign of bleeding and they always help me.

ironically, I started knee pain about a week ago & just last night I read someone here said their flares always started with knee pain..hmm..

Call the doctor TODAY and request the rowasa. You need to deal with the inflammation of your rectum now....then when you see him, your appointment will be more effective by you saying...OK, these are helping, not helping, etc and go from there.

The fact that you're going on holiday means there's "urgency"..lol..pun..to get this dealt with soon.

Rectal meds...and we can't stress that enough.

You're already on the Lialda..that will cover the upper part of your colon.

Don't accept him just saying...up the Lialda to 4 that will be good enough.

rEally...really...really...sigh.

They called in a suppository...and for the ringing suggested dropping lialda in half..I said no to cutting lialda as I can take rining over running any day! Sounds like they may look into switching my meds after my appt.

The suppositories are great but they aren't as effective as enemas. I have been using Canasa for years and while they do have their good points, if I were starting to feel a flare up coming on, I would definitely jump for the Rowasa ASAP. Just something to think about. At least you will see the doctor next week - hopefully you can formulate a plan to help get you back on track. You're on a maintenence dose of lialda, they may have you increase by a pill or two until you're feeling better.

I also think enemas are the way to go - I wish I had insisted a bit more on them last year when I was starting a flare - i mentioned them but my GI went to steroids first unfortunately... cause 8 months of prednisone did nothing much but 1 month of enemas (and upping pills to 4 instead of 2) seem to have made a world of difference.. I know my next plan of attack at the slightest issue will be the rectal retention mesalamine enemas!!!

It sounded as though he's not excited about upping the lialda because of the tinnitus. The frequency is ok, only 3 times this morning, just no doubt blood..and a fair amt of it.

What do you mean by "ringing?"

I still suggest asking about the enemas. My doctor never suggested them until I asked him for them. So glad I did...

Ah, I see. I should have looked up what tinnitus was before posting. :) That doesn't sound very fun.
