it hurts when i eat

I have this happen to me, usually only when my symptoms are really bad....sort of a tight, hot feeling in the upper chest area with a radiating type pain? The dr last time I was in the hospital told me it is acid reflux and prescribed Nexium.
My husband takes Nexium regularly, and I decided not to since the pain was so NOT a regular occurence (and I have enough medications thank you very much!), and it hasn't gotten worse or happened more often since then.

I've had similar experiences - generally across my chest and along the bottom of the rib cage. A couple of things that seemed to help were:

Eating smaller meals more often instead of a big meal in the evening.

Sitting upright when eating & after eating, in fact I found I get it less the times I have to stand up and do thing after I've eaten.

That comes to mind also, acid reflux. I was put on Prilosec about 3-4 years ago for this because after I eat, I would get a tight feeling in my chest, my stomach would hurt, I would feel nauseous, and sometimes I would get a painful lump like feeling in my esophagus.

Another possibility is trapped gas with deferred pain. When I get trapped gas, sometimes it feels like it's under my ribs and other times it seems to be all over.

Is there any food in particular that causes these feelings?
