Lialda while fasting?

Hi guys,

Haven't been here for a while. I went into remission a few months ago, but guess what, my ulcerative proctitis is back!

This flare has been very mild though. I'm currently on 2.4g of Lialda a day and HC suppositories every night. My GI thinks I have an internal hemmorroid contributing to the bleeding too. My question is, I'm fasting for religious purposes (not a big deal, just 24 hours of no food/drink), but when I started I forgot about my medications. Now I'm in the middle of the fast and I don't know if it's safe to take my Lialda pill even tough I haven't eaten anything in almost 24 hours? Could this be an issue?

I am not sure if you're supposed to take these meds on an empty stomach but I've done it sooo many times. You should probably try rowasa instead of suppositories, they travel further into the intestines and can be more effective. I guess if you're dealing with hemorhoids, the suppositories may be the best thing for you...

It's fine to take them on an empty stomach...

I agree that the retention enemas will be better than the suppositories.
