enemas

I am sorry you're feeling frustrated. Are you taking 4 enemas a day? Seems like there aren't enough hours in the day sometimes, doesn't it? I have been in your shoes and I think the most important change for me was having bloodwork to check my 6mp levels on a regular basis and working to get into the range that I needed to be in to get the most out of the medication. have you had the imuran levels checked? If you're taking it and you don't check the levels, it could be completely uselss and you wouldn't know. Mine was useless and according to my CBC and liver panel everything was fine but in reality, I was getting very little theraputic benefit from 6mp and having high toxicity to my liver. I ended up adding allopurinol and the charts completely flipped. High benefit, low toxicity. Since, I have been feeling better. Keep your chin up. Things will improve. Are you symptoms severe? Do you have trouble retaining the enemas? You're not on oral pred, are you?

How bad is your flare and what were things like as seen via the scope?

from my understanding, the enemas should not be causing tummy noises as they stay down near the rectum. 4 does seem like a lot but if they can work so be it... Has anything else changed that could cause the tummy troubles? diet? different meds? added a supplement?

I get tummy noises from them too sometimes...if one has gas, it will exacerbate it sometimes..kind of like concentrating it all. As well, the extra pressure of something in the lower colon triggers the peristalsis sometimes. But it's not a bm process...so that could be part of it.

There's some air in the colon all the time...and spasming and normal movement will also cause the noises.

So...again..you're on 4 a day? Which ones do you use when?

If you're using enemas all the time, how do you know they are causing the noises and not the UC? When I am flared up I seem to always have noises :(
