Anti-diarrhea meds?

Do any of you take anti-diarrhea OTC drugs to stop going to the bathroom all the time?? I work as a teacher and am finding it impossible to make it through the day!

I agree with getting things under control but I do rely on LOMOTIL to stop the trips to the washroom.  You do need a perscription for it but it works the best for me.  I take one in the morning after my BM"S and I am fine for the rest of the day.  It is an opiod so it might take getting use to it.  I have taken immodium but I find for me it gives me major gas pain and cramping, plus it is not covered by my drugplan so LOMOTIL is much cheaper if covered.

I take imodium every day, that and narcotic pain meds. Morphine, Codeine, Vicodin, and even Tramadol work wonders as far as constipating me! I went from 30-40 bm's a day (I'm flaring) to only 10. Wish I knew what Remission was like!

You need to also get on rectal meds. Ask for mesalamine retention enemas...NOT the suppositories.

That will help heal the rectum.

Do NOT take the Lomotil consistently, it will give you false sense of "things are better".

Dr, A....didn't the lomotil have you feeling stoned?

Imodium is the only over the counter medication that will help with the diarrhea. Your doctor can prescibe lomotil or belladonna alkaloids at his discretion. I agree, once you get control of the flare, the diarrhea should resolve.
