bad flare up

I HAVE BEEN ON CANASA 1000MG FOR about 2YEARS.  I HAVE HAD UC FOR 2 YEARS. THIS IS MY FIRST REAL FLARE UP  AND IM SCARED...  I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW LONG THIS FLARE UP CAN LAST?? I HAVE HAD THIS FOR OVER 30 DAYS NOW...RUSHING TO THE BATHROOM AND JUST MAKING IT,  MIX OF WATERY STOOLS AND DIARRHEA. ALSO BLOOD QUITE A BIT OF IT IN THE TOLIET (WHICH IM THINK HEMRROID THAT I KNOW I HAVE) BUT STILL HAVE BLOODY STOOLS ALSO   I HAVE WATCH WHAT I EAT...NOTHING SEEMS TO CHANGE.    UP DURING THE NIGHT   IM ON PROBOTICS, VITAMINS, THEN I PUT MYSELF ON IRON PILL.

I JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG THIS CAN LAST???THANKS FOR ANY IN PUT...

Hi zeus, and welcome to the forum. I would like to ask you to please not use all capital letters when posting - that's considered "yelling" and not very polite.

The flare can last .... as long as you can. Perhaps the inflammation has gone up further in your system so the Canasa is no longer reaching it - you may need Rowasa (or Salofalk, depending on where you are) enemas, which cover more area.
You also may need oral medications - 5-ASA, the same stuff as the Canasa, so that you're addressing the issue from both ends. (Again quoting Quincy....)

When you're up int he night to poop, that's a flare for sure. It needs medication to get better.

I have found that eating softer foods, only well-cooked fruits and veggies, no skins (of apples or potatoes or whatever)... nut butters... have helped me feel less pain.

But - you need to see your GI as soon as you can. I've found that when I call and use the phrase "lots of blood" I can get in pretty quickly......

As the others said, waiting isn't going to fix the issue. You should get an appointment to see your GI asap. Canasa is for very mild rectal UC and probably will not cure the symptoms you describe. Let us know how it goes at the GI.
