I also posted this on the ostomy board, but thought I might get more responses here because I am sure many of you have had this procedure. Thanks!
I had one of these done while in the hospital last April. They put me out for it and I did a little prep for it. Well, I got a bill from December for my pre-op appointment for my total colectomy. On there it said anal pressure record, gastroenterology procedure and proctosigmoidoscopy. I did have the anal pressure record done, but I am sure I didn't have the proctosigmoidoscopy done. We were done in a few minutes, there was no prep done and it really didn't hurt (and they didn't put me out for this). So, it's sounds like I didn't have this done, right? I contacted the clinic and after being on hold for over 30 minutes he says he sees it in the doctor's notes, but he can't see that I actually had it on that date. I think the doctor's note was referring to the one I had done in April of last year.
Anyway, hopefully this will get resolved (they said they have to review it and it could take 30 to 45 days). If someone could tell me that I would know/remember that I had this done, I would appreciate it. I just don't think this is something that he would sneak and do and I wouldn't notice, right?
This matters because I owe about $500 for this because they didn't cover part of it. I am also going to owe over $2600 for the surgery (if I'm lucky...that's another story) so I want to get this resolved.
Thanks!!!
