T- cells or B cells and Low Dose Naltrexone

  We had an appointment with the immunoligist to discuss Low Dose Naltrexone with him. Hailey has no symptoms of colitis. She goes the restroom once a day with a perfectly normal stool, her blood is good , but on the scope of the colon she is showing lymphocytes.

 I wanted to share with everyone what her immunoligist said to us. We discussed Low Dose Naltrexone since I have read up about it on this forum. He said that it is targeted directly to the T-cells. Hailey's b-cells are not normal.

  I guess what I want to encourage all of you to try to find an immunoligist to get a full blood work done of your  IgA, Igm, Igg levels.  And how your T-cells and B-cells are functioning.

  Because if it is your T-cells that are malfunctioning Low Dose Naltrexone will help. In Hailey's case it is her b-cells, so she is starting IVIG infusions once a month to boost her immune system.

They give IVIG for cancer patients to help them build their immune system up.

  70% of the immune system is in the colon.

Interesting thought!  If we have an autoimmune disease shoud we also bee seen by an immunologist? I'm also taking LDN and Budesonide suppositories and am in a bad flare now.  I've had tests done on my IgA, Igm, Igg level by an intergrative med doctor.  I'm gona have to go back and look at the results! Thanks for the post!

This is very interesting to me too. I wonder why GIs don't do much to check these things in the blood? I am interested in trying LDN but I don't know if it will help me. I am seeing a hematologist, hopefully I find some info on what is going on.

If I am HLA B27 positive does it mean it is my B cells giving me the problem and the LDN isn't going to help me? 

When I just lost my second baby I read about people with B cell problems having  multiple miscarriages.  They were also treated with IVIG.  I mentioned it to my OB but she didn't seem interested.

Which LDN are you on? Oral or Transdermal? IF it's the pills, do you know which filler it contains?

If it has lactose or avicel as a filler that may be why you are getting a flare, which may not be a flare, but rather a reaction to those fillers.

I don't believe that's true about LDN only helping with Tcells and not Bcells. LDN works in general by boosting your immune system.

It binds to the cell site  receptors used by opiates, by blocking those sites thereby forcing the body to create its own endorphins, and lots of them. That's why LDN is so useful in so many auto-immune diseases, because it boosts the immune system. But if you are not on the right type of LDN, then it may not work.

I had the flare before taking the LDN...caused by major life stressors (my dad passed away).

I requested a non-lactose filler but I'm not lactose intolerate.  Maybe the cream would be better for me as food tends to go right through me.  I saw a pea in the toilet ths morning :(...last time it was a stran of spaghetti!

Sounds like you may be having absorption issues, and you would be a good candidate for the Transdermal LDN.

I hope it works for you peace. Did you get it from one of the pharmacies that InSoFl recommended? I've heard that the compunding pharmacy can make a big difference in the quality of the medication.

Yup compounding pharmacies do make a different. I was furious that my doc chose a local one and insisted it to be switched to Irmat. Irmat or Skips are the top two for me :).

Glad you'll be starting on Transdermal LDN.

You should check if they use Emu Oil in the cream. Apparently that's the formulation that works best. If they did, you should have no problems.

Let me know how you do on it.
