Anybody tried Azathioprine for UC - Does it work??

Ive been on it a couple of years, NO side affects.. but it doesnt seem to be working for me. My doc seems to think its doing something but it certainly isnt holding me in remission status. So in my opinion it isnt working.

Ive hear it works for LOTS of people. Sohopefully for you too!

I am on 6mp which is similar to Imuran - Imuran breaks down into 6mp in the liver. I have been on it for 5 years. At first the side effects is increased fatigue. But I also got headaches, mild hair loss and slightly nauseousness. The side effects only lasted for a month or so. You can't go by with what you read on the internet regarding these meds because we take a smaller dose then what it is originally intended for (chemotherapy).

Hi, MyUC here.  I am on Azathioprine and it has helped me a lot.  It has put me in a solid remission and kept me there.  One solid bm every 1-2 days with no urgency, blood, mucus, etc...  No side effects whatsoever.  I wished I had gotten on it earlier than I did.   I wish you the best with whatever you decide.

I dont know if it really is helping me after 2 months on it. i was on it once before but think I was getting nausea. We'll see. I had some improvements at first but it might have been the hydrocortisone I was on.
