Terrible cough and Prednisone

Since I've started the Predn I have terrible cough. Maybe it's because when I started to flare up, I've already had some cold infection. But the same moment Predn kicked in and helped with the UC symptoms, the cough started. It's been this way almost 3 weeks now, chest X-ray showed nothing, but I don't know how much longer can I use cough suppressand. Still, I'm trying Mucinex Dm only for the night, but believe me - I'm so tired coughing so much.

Anybody had something similar? I've read that it can be quite rare side effect of Predn but - any help? Any advice what can help as I'd rather don't go on antibiotics with the UC under Prednisone.

Yeah, I thought about that. Starting flaring up form UC with a cold virus at the first place wouldn't rather help as well. But on the other hand, according to my GI, Predn is also given for upper respiratory problems as well, so in my case is like something is odd. I'm really thinking about seeing my family doc tomorrow maybe.
