Hi Rita -
I hope the surgery gives you your life back! That's what I hear from so many.
If you don't get many hits on here, you might want to ask your question on the Ostomy forum. There are probably more folks there who might know the answer.....

I've been flaring for a year and I'm in really rough shape. Surgery scheduled 6/8... Let's hope we do ok despite our condition! I was told if I am too rough, the surgeon will do 3 steps instead of 2. Oh, and I get to skip the colon prep so something good is coming out of this flaring!

Its better to do surgery when healthy but that doesn't happen much. Seems like this is planned which is better than emergency. Having it while flaring just means recovery will be harder. I had mine while flaring, most of us did. Its not a fun surgery or a fun recovery but its so worth it! I do whatever I want whenever I want! Good luck!

Most have surgery when they are sick as most people don't want surgery and put it off. Don't worry about
it. I had my surgery at USC Norris Hospital 10 years ago and am fine. Who is your surgeon, Ault?

I was in a flare on a high dose of prednisone and did just fine :)
