Proctitis and the removal of infected area

Hi
I was just wondering if anyone with proc*** has had the infected area of there bowel removed and has it been successful or just made the problem worse. My doctor brought this up a while and I haven't found any information about it

thank you for your reply. i will, i had my last colonoscopy almost three years ago and from what i can remember it was only the last three inches that was infected.
Im having what i think is my first flare up , i thought i was doing ok haven't had B in months and hardly any M. BUT having bad cramps and the urge to got to the bathroom a lot. Last year my doctor said if i couldn't get the bleeding under control he could remove the infected part of my bowel but the bleeding stop not long after that so never worried about it.
Its only the last 2 months i have been un well and been on three course of antibiotics due to an wisdom tooth infection which is what i think caused the flare up and what my doctor said has come to mind and if removing that little part would fix everything i wouldnt think twice about having it done.

I had only about an inch of affected rectal tissue and had the entire colon and rectum removed. I would not talk with any surgeon that did not recommend removal of both organs.

I opted for surgery because I couldn't get that small area in remission and I was prednisone dependent.
