Anyone else experience Uveitis?

In a flare right now and have been fighting a number of bacterial infections due to my suppressed immune system. My most current issue (though it may not be bacterial) is uveitis. Apparently it is an inflammation in the eye that is fairly common for folks with IBD.

I have an appointment today with the opthemologist to check it out. Was starting on a high powered antibiotic on Monday for infected lymph nodes, throat and upper respiratory infection (high dose amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) but it hasn't seemed to help with the eye issue. It's quite painful and looks pretty bad as well.

Just wondered if anyone else has had to deal with this before and what type of treatments you may have undergone. This is just such a low blow when I'm already feeling rotten and exhausted.

I guess I should have checked past forum discussions. Looks like several folks in the UC and Chrons forums have had experience with this.

sigh. I hope the appointment goes well this afternoon and they give me something to abate the pain.

Crazybug.  I have iritis right now. They will probably give you prednisolone eye drops which should help immediately.

Yes, I started having flares of Uveitis before UC started..  Now my doctors believe they are linked for me.

I'm sorry you are feeling so horrible with all these infections. When I was first diagnosed, I was constantly sick as well - throat infections, ear infections, eye infections, bronchitis - you name it, I had it.

They probably will prescribe you a steroid/antibiotic eye drop combo. It works pretty fast and within a day or two, your eye(s) will start to feel better.

Thank you so much for the kind responses. It turned out to be iritis and the steroid drops that I started yesterday evening have already relieved much of the pain. Just in time for me to prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow! eyes

I try to keep a pretty good attitude, but boy this disease will really take you for a ride and test your spirits. It's at least some small comfort to have the kind people here on the forum to- -cry, whine, bounce ideas around --with.

I wish all wellness today, if not in body then in spirit.
