I know we're not suppose to take Advil, but when I do my colon feels so much better. I feel the inflammation go away and urgency. Why can't they make a 5 asa with advil like property?

I have been taking NSAIDs once in a wihle for migraines. I know it's a big no-no, but it's the only thing that helps with the migraines. I am looking for another solution but I've tried 4 drugs and none help. I asked my neurologist if taking the NSAID here and there (once a month) is bad for my UC and she said it's probably not a problem. It makes me so nervous, I don't see it as a solution.

immigram will help you with your migraines probably.
also it depends what causes them. for me gabarapentin (gabaran) is ok too.

advil makes you feel good because it lowers the inflammation all over your body. the bad part is that it disrupts your colon mucosa much faster than even UC does. also it will increase the bleeding on the long term.
i was first diagnosed for ankylosing spondilitys (even if i had gut problems, i did not considered them a problem so did not spoke with my doctors about
them at that time. the pain i've had in my abdomen i thought it comes from my spine and my sacro-iliac joints and not from my colon as it mostly was) and for more than 1 year i took NSAID's.
i usually took them 15 days / month. normally i should have taken them permanently.
for the first 10 day was felling perfect, then the effects stopped and things seemed to get worse and worse. so i would stop taking them.
and strangely, things would get better, but not so better as before.
i was entering a downward spiral - NSAID's would stop the inflammation for a time, but during the long term, my gut would become more and more affected and inflamed because of UC and NSAID's together.
stopping NSAID's and switching to SCD helped me get back from this spiral.
