Highest Asacol dose

Hi all,

I am finally coming completely off prednisone after 4 months on (see signature) - tapered verrrry slow under 5mg: 3.75, 2.5, 1.25. I have seen a couple of "blips" where there is mucus in the stool and some on the wipe. Both times I have had a well formed bowel later on or the next day.

One of the blips happened after I missed one 800mg asacol dose due to travel (I think). This makes me wonder if increasing my asacol dose would help.

I am on 3 asacol HD per day (2400mg total) - is anyone doing a higher dose than this?

The max dose is 4800. 12 400mg pills per day. You should probably speak to your GI before making changes. You will run out quickly if your script is for 3 a day and you take 5 or 6.

I take 8 400mg a day.

I have seen others on 16 pills. The max recommended dose is 4800mg but there are some who go over with good results.
