Another quick abscess question

So I just finished up a nice hot sitz bath, and after I got up, I checked in the mirror to make sure the wound wasn't closing up on the outside.  It's not.  However, I noticed there was some pus leaking out, so I pressed (gently) on the skin surrounding the cut, and a good deal leaked out.

Normal, or not?

I fully intend to call the surgeon's office in the morning, but was wondering if any of you knew if this was normal or not.  The pain is still quite minimal. 

Just editing to add that it's been over 48 hours since it was cut open and drained.

Hahaha ElephantPipe. I get what you mean. It definitely sucks that I had an abscess. They really hurt!

Anyway, I called the surgeon's office and got through to the answering service. The on-call doc called me back and assured me it's perfectly normal and good that it's still draining, as that indicates it's not closing up from the outside and trapping all that gunk in there. She also said it's great that I haven't needed any percocet.

Well, it could be random; people with no medical problems at all get these thing. It could be related to my UC. It (really really probably not) could be that I actually have Crohn's, and am going to be prone to these. Several things lead me to believe that I don't have Crohn's, though.

What I really think it is, though, is that I started using a different brand of mesalamine enema. I've always had Perrigo in the past, but an insurance switch (and therefore a different mail order pharmacy) resulted in me getting Garvis enemas. I started using them a couple of months ago, and noticed that the tips on some of them are rough. I've definitely felt a few "pinches" when using them. Anyway, a quick google search of "enema perianal abscess" turned up a few websites that list "enema tip abrasion" as a cause for abscesses.

Yeah, I'm mad. I'm for sure not using any more of those enemas and am probably going to call them and chew someone out. In my nice, frigid, don't eff with me voice that I have.
