Well, I'm not sure if this is good enough. I'm concerned about having chronic low-level inflammation still. Hence, this post. I figure my current state is better than the possible side-effects from biologics, which is what my GI wanted me to do next. Imuran didn't seem to do diddly squat for me. Prednisone has helped me but I obviously can't rely on that for long-term maintenance.
I have tried doing a FT at home a few months ago but it didn't work for me. I plan on trying it again sooner than later with a different donor. That is my last, best hope.
It's great that you are able to manage your UC. Yes. You should still pay attention to chronic low-level inflammation. I've read about
someone who had to get surgery after many (probably at least a decade) of low-level inflammation. Her inflammation sound even more mild. No blood. Just some diarrhea.
But will Pred, Imuran, and biologics help chronic inflammation? They won't cure it; so you will have to always be on them, and heir health risk is far greater than that of chronic low-level inflammation.
Have you tried getting all your minerals and vitamins? I'm eating a lot of spinach and sunflower seed nut butters, and they seem to help quite a bit; so much so that I will eat them almost everyday. Sometimes the body is missing or lacking in something, and a mild, albeit very mild, flare could be the result.
Also,
if you are having issues digesting foods, try some Beano. I find that I'm lacking in the enzymes that would allow me to digest fructose. I'm waiting for a fructose version for Beano and Lactaid. My colon will tend to react when I have extra digestive juice.
This on top of the probiotics.
