I've been taking Bio-K+ for about 8 years on and off. I've always had gastro issues, mostly bloating and constipation. For me, 1/4 of a container daily consistently for at least 2 weeks really gets things moving regularly. Staying away from gluten also makes a big difference for me. I've read a lot about probiotics and Bio-K+ has some good data. Last year, an article was published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology where Bio-K was found to be effective in prevention of antibiotic associated diarrhea and c.difficile (AJG, vol.105, Feb2010, Gao et al). I'm not aware of anything on UC for BioK+ though. There's a lot of evidence now that confirms that probiotic effects seem to be strain specific. Meaning, that the presence of L. Acidophilus in a probiotic for example doesn't guarantee it's efficacy. You need to look at which L. Acidophilus strain. From my experience, you need a least 2 weeks of daily use to see a difference. Also, when you choose a probiotic, make sure its’ got science to back up its claims. There's a lot of bogus products out there.
