Hey RT. My daughter passes blood in her stool about once a year, and she has done so for her whole life. She's almost 12 now. I worry about it, too, but I did make a decision pretty early on to NOT take it to the ped unless and until my daughter's life was affected in some noticable way by bowel trouble.
That day did come eventually, but it was upper GI pain that got us into testing. Her GI has noted the occasional bloody stool in her chart, but all the stool samples we took and blood work we did showed no issues with inflammation (no occult blood in her stool either). So right now, she is being treated for GERD, which was confirmed by endoscopy. She's doing really well but last week reported blood in her stool. With no other symptoms of any kind (no hard stool, no stomach ache, no crampy bowel, nothing). I'll tell her GI at our next visit, but I expect no reaction.
