hey da
When I was diagnosed with chronic pancolitis in May 2009, my doctor revealed to me I would be lactose intollerant, so to take Lactaid pills when consuming dairy, and to use Lactaid milk for milk. I did not like the idea of taking a pill for something my stomach can't digest, so I resorted to doing soy based stuff. However I discovered that soy, although delicious, is not good for you, especially UCers. So scratch that. (also tried rice, almond (works), hemp)
fast forward 2 years, or to last week... I hear of the SCD yogurt. I was thinking about making it, but so skeptical about dairy! I know and have confirmed it gives me problems. But then I heard that Goats Yogurt is digestible by people with lactose intollerance and sensitivity to cows milk. I was skeptical at first but I was missing out on dairy and missed it a lot. So I went to whole foods and bought
Redwood Hill Farm Goats Yogurt.
Works wonderfully. I can eat a whole bucket of it no problem. Can't believe it. Even tried the vanilla flavor which has maple syrup in it to sweeten it. Works so well cannot believe it. I have concluded, maybe I am not even lactose intollerant but am sensitive to cows milk!!!
The lid says it contains heaps of probiotic bacteria, I believe it, my UC symptoms have been very under control.
Oh! If you have luck with the yogurt, then feel free to try LaLoos icecream... Deeeeelishus.
Good luck
