Stress can have a huge impact on the body. yes, but stress cannot cause UC, for that to happen a certain gene has to be present and an abnormal immune response. No one will argue that too much stress is a bad thing, it's another thing to say it causes UC.

My UC started right after one of the most stressful months of my life. I have found an intimate very responsive relationship between my gut and my mental state. Whether or not stress 'caused' my UC is a matter of semantics. It definitely played and continues to play a huge role.

Stress is well known to weaken the immune system, allowing all kinds of pathogens to take hold that were otherwise in check. This can lead to all kinds of disorders.
