Hi GidHike,

I did not want to hijack the other thread but wanted to respond to you.  "I asked a question here of people who work full time - how they do it with UC and I never got a serious response. All the ones I got were "oh I work from home" or "I'm unemployed"... or they got someone to cover for them"

When I flared really bad for 3 months, I drove to work sitting on trash bags, I stopped to poop at every dunkin donuts, I ran to the bathroon every 30 minutes at work and cried my eyes out as I pooped blood.  I hid it from my boss and went to work every day.  I don't know how I got through it but I can never go through that again, if that is what it comes to for me, then I will have surgery.  I'd rather take a chance on freedom rather than being tied to the toilet.

Hi Beth, I agree. It's a very scary thought and I'm worried about my future every day.. No one wants surgery, but choosing between literally dying as a bum on a cold winter day because you get fired from a job every 6 months because of flare ups and can't afford to pay for rent/food or get surgery, the choice seems easy enough.

Next come how does one pay for such surgeries?

At any rate Beth, this weekend I will be trying to second fecal transplant (getting into another flare. Only had a two month break from my last flare.. sigh. First FT didn't go through so well so it didn't count). There's a good chance that fecal transplants are a cure if done right and from my personal experience I know it got me out of my last flare.

I would highly suggest before you decide on surgery, to try a fecal transplant first. It costs nothing except some grossness for the day but it may be a real, viable cure

Thanks GidHike, I would definintely try fecal transplant. I hope this 2nd time goes well for you. Please keep us updated!!

I carry the insurance, so if I ever lost my job and could not get one and insurance ran out, I would be in very big trouble then. Which I do worry about.
