Change from Imuran to 6mp question

So after about a week of being neauseated and terrible headaches that I couldn't do anything but lay down after lunch my dr suggested I change over to 6mp. I know imuran eventually breaks down into 6mp so we are hoping the inscribe metabolites are what are making me sick. My question is this... Did I go through this medicine too fast? I was just bumped from 50 mg to 100 mg and he said if I can't tolerate this te next step is biologics? The injectable stuff? It's not that I can't deal with it, I can... It just makes me miserable and slowest and not totally there. I also coach so it's not fair to the girls that I'm not 100% there and work, ugh thats just drag. I will totally suck it up if I means I have to move onto an injectable after this but I figured these two medicines were close enough to be the same that it didn't matter? Does that make sense? I just don't want to run out of options so soon. It's scary.

I didn't do well with Imuran either and was told after a month of it that if I have another flare I'd be moved to Remicade or Humira. I was experiencing all the side effects of Imuran and honestly if you tell you doc you'd rather stay with it or 6mp and deal with the side effects they may be ok with that. I however couldn't deal or didn't think it was worth the trouble it was causing me.

I wouldn't be so worried about the biologics, many people use them with no problems and have relief. You may want to try other things like diet etc if you haven't though, scd and such. As well as probiotics and other things people post about on here. You never know and they may just help you out to the point where you won't need to go to biologics or possibly even be on what you're on now, many people have success with just doing some of the things I've mentioned.

I have only been on 6mp but I asked my GI if I would do better on Imuran because I've never been able to get into the theraputic range with 6mp and she said they are very similar and that it probably wouldn't make a difference. I definitely think it's worth trying but I wouldn't be surprised if you have similar side effects with 6mp. I hope you're able to tolerate it better and that it helps keep you in remission. There is only one way to find out.

Thanks guys. I still don't even want to think of the next step. I'd love to take probiotocs and I do read about them but I still have no idea where to start and what I should do. My mom isn't too keen on trying anything but rx things and I am jobless so I am pretty much stuck to her will of the wallet. Don't get me wrong I waitress here and there too but not enough to support a pricy pronioic habit. Even the ones in walmart are expensive. I guess if im still getting side effects from 6mp that's my next step..
