Lialda side effects- hair loss

Does anybody have this situation with Lialda. I've been taking it for almost 7 weeks and I still feeling cramping and hair loss. I see hair everywhere and I think it's not normal. Also I have my next follow up appointment with my GI on 11/14 and I wanna stop this medication. What do you think if I stop lialda? Is there anything helpful for me? I don't want to take medications. Is homeopathic treatment effective? Any suggestions?

Diagnosed with UC 9/01/2011 38 years old
Currently taking Lialda 1x 2 tbls 1.2 my
Prednisone from 9/01/2011 to 9/30/2011
Diet: carrots, potatoes, beets, portabello mushroom, onions and garlic extra virgin olive oil. Gluten free diet. Papayas, pineapple and apples (no skin).Trying
to add salmon however is not part of this diet.
Trying to add chex rice cereal no gluten
No gluten plain english muffins of George Foods.
Udis Bread no gluten/ vegetarian butter and veganaise. Distilled water.

I have been on Lialda for about 3 years and never had any hair shedding. If fact, before Lialda and the biologic, I had lost nearly all my hair when I was very low on blood and on high dose Prednisone but after I started the biologic and Lialda, my hair grew back thicker than ever. I also supplemented Biotin and folic acid and that seems to help also.

I noticed you just finished a course of Prednisone, this could be why you are shedding. I would consider Biotin and Folic Acid.

I have not experienced hair loss. I take a high potency multivitamin which you might want to do as well if you are not already.

I've been taking it for two and a half years and the only time I start losing hair is when I've been on pred and for awhile afterward.

I've been on Lialda for almost a year now. No issues at all.

I too lost hair with prednizone. That was about 15 years ago. Since then I have refused to take it and have been on several different meds since with no problems.

I am interested in your side affects from Lialda. I started taking it this past Saturday and by last night I was very dizzy and light headed, bad headache, severe abdominal pain and D and slight fever. I called my doctor, discontinued it today and went back to my Asacol HD. Feeling better today. At least I can stand up straight today. With the time you have been on it so far, did your side affects get better at all? I can't see taking a medication whose side affects are worse than the symptoms of the disease I am taking for.

Don't worry about your hair. It does grow back. Taking a multivitamin does help a lot too. I take GNC Ultramega Women's. Regular OTC vitamins irritated my UC.

ive noticed my hair thinning, also kinda looked like i was gonna go bald around my ears. makes you pretty self conscious especially when your a 19 yr old male. but i am not on the lialda. im noticing this from either my remicade or imuran

I'm not on Lialda, but I am on Salofalk, which both have the same active ingredient.
Mesalazine can cause reversable hair loss, but to combat it you can take omega 3 fatty acids and a B complete and B complex pill
I'm currently experiencing massive shedding after a 9 week course of hydrocortisone and prednisone, so I dont know if salofalk is to blame or the steroids.

I know you don't wanna take medications, none of us do, but it's a part of life, and if you want to be well, it's what you've gotta do!
If you're really serious about natural alternatives, I suggest you look into AloeElite, Serovera or Aloevin, it's all the same stuff, it just depends which company you trust more.
