Yes they are different, and I started that forum thread.
Seed powder has no husk in it. The husk is the outer layer of the entire seed, much like corn kernels have a harder outer shell and a softer inner side. To make husk powder you remove the husk, or outer layer, and grind it up, discarding the inner seed. To make the seed powder, you remove the husk, discard it, and grind up the inner seed.
Husk powder has significantly more insoluble fiber than the seed powder, making it less useful for UC. Insoluble fibers keep things moving through the intestines, much like leafy greens and roughage. Soluble fibers absorb liquids and bulk things up, which is far more the effect most UCers are going for, as diarrhea and urgency are the issues at hand.
The seed powder cannot be found in stores. Husk powder is widely available in even the most basic grocery stores. Everyone who takes seed powder that I know of buys it online, myself included.
I tried husk powder, and it actually seemed to increase the number of movements I was having.
