     If I may ask...where in south Jersey are you located?  Has your GI doctor mentioned surgery or is he like the one I had....very upset when I told him I decided on surgery, said..."I feel like I failed you!"  and then told his associate that he had to leave the office...sheesh!

i am in EHT...i was seeing Dr.Choudhary at Jefferson and now see Dr.Santoro...no DR's seem to help me at all and all say surgery isn't a option but i wanna meet with a surgeon and hear what they have to say

My doctor is actually suggesting surgery since Remicade didn't work. I just hope she's not trying to get rid of me

Dr Choudhary is my GI doctor. I love her. She's the one who referred me to Dr. Goldstein. Curious to know why they all say surgery isn't an option.

     Not to sound dumb, but what is EHT?  East Harrison Township?  I was diagnosed by Dr. Howard Siegel who is with Allied Gastro.  He remained my GI doctor all those years.  I did seek a second and then a third opinion but they all seemed in agreement as to my treatment.  Dr. Siegel sent me to Dr. Lichinstein (not sure of that spelling) over at the Univ of Pa.  That guy is so full of himself all he did was brag about all the papers he published on UC..yada yada yada, until I finally had to bring him back to earth and say..."ah, I am really here to find out what my treatment options are."  Needless to say, even though Dr. Siegel wanted to send me BACK to Lichinstein after the failure of Remicade and Humira, I said the hell with it.

BYEBYEUC did Chourdhary also say that? she wanted to try 6MP and Remicade but i dont believe in taking those drugs are worth the risk with the success rate...

I had exhausted all the drugs with the exception of Humira. I didn't want to bother wasting my time with that because I tried the Remicade and that didn't work. I found her very open minded and we talked about surgery before I tried the Remicade. I told her I wanted to try it to at least get in to remission to get stronger THEN have surgery. I knew I didn't want to stay on it for long. She totally left it up to me and had good things to say about her patients that had surgery. She was the only GI doctor I ever had that was supportive.

byebye-will i be able to work from home...i really need a computer and a phone after surgery(i own my own business so not work long term isnt an option)

Yes you should be able to work from home. You will still need to give yourself a couple of weeks after surgery to re-coop. Also, the surgery is done in steps. Some surgeons do it in 2 steps, others in 3 steps. Mine was done in two steps and it took me a few weeks after step one to even do simple tasks. Step 2 (takedown or ileostomy reversal) was much easier and I was back to my normal crazy, running around routine in 2 weeks. You will get a better idea once you have a consult with a surgeon to see how they would do your surgery. It's worth it, but it's a tough surgery to re-coop from. I don't want to scare you, I just want to be honest. Is there someone who can help you out with your business for a little bit?

i could have help but i am the co owner and handle the operation something my partner knows nothing about...i really only need to be able to answer emails and phone calls...i should be able to do that correct? how long till you felt normal again...as much you could do to help me understand would be greatly appreciated...

Once you get home from the hospital, you should be fine to answer your emails and make some phone calls. I was feeling pretty good around the 4 week mark and was out and about doing things. By the time I was feeling really good and strong, it was time for my second surgery and that was very easy compared to the first surgery. I felt completely back to normal about two weeks after the final surgery. You do need to give your body time to adjust to it's new plumbing. I was fortunate and adjusted very quickly....some people take longer. It's definitely a plus having a desk job rather than something physical after surgery. I work part time now but at the time of my surgeries I wasn't working outside the home. But I have two kids so that is a full time job!
