Obgyn wants ultrasound because of ovary check

Just had my yearly and she noticed a hardness on one side. Now I am worried about Remicade and cancer. It could just be my bowels. It,s on my right side. I have been noticing a mild sensation there and I was worried about crohns because they feel things on that side where the small intestine meets. I had an ultrasound in June before I started Remicade in august and it showed nothing, so I don't know if something would pop up that quick. Ugh. I am worried though. Has anyone had their obgyn pick up on bowel stuff during an exam?

The last time I had a hardness felt on my right side it was from an ovarian cyst. Most times you can not feel a cyst unless it gets large. Unfortunately mine did get large and I had to get it laproscopically drained. Try not to worry about it. Are you scheduled to have another ultra sound done?

Hopefully what they find will be benign and easily managed or taken care of.

UGH on the unltrasound. I'm assuming (which I know is bad) that its a vaginal one. I had one done 6-7 years ago because the doctor felt a lump (don't remember where it was located)...when I had the ultrasound it showed nothing there. I had severe back pain from the ultrasound for 3 days afterward...could barely walk. Hope I don't have to get one ever again.

Good luck...hopefully its just something minor.

wow. a vaginal ultrasound should not make you sore in any way. That's awful.

I agree. I've had numerous ultrasounds including vaginal and not one has ever caused me pain. Slight discomfort during the procedure because of the full bladder but that is it.

I also had a vaginal ultrasound and there was no pain (I'm a sissy), however it did not detect an un-small fibroid that was there, later found by a doctors manual exam. Hope yours goes well and all is benign.

I have to agree that a vaginal u/s shouldn't cause any pain. I've had two: the first was when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and had some spotting. I was early enough along that an abdominal ultrasound wouldn't have really shown anything. The second was when my OBGYN thought one of my ovaries felt large during my annual exam, so did a vaginal ultrasound to make sure nothing was really wrong (and it wasn't).

My uterus is tilted and apparently thats what caused the pain afterwards. Didn't hurt while doing it...just later. Lucky me. :( I have an GYN appt on the 19th and I haven't been in a few years (I know bad bad bad) and I'm afraid of what they will be sending me for. LOL

     UGH...transvaginal ultrasound was the PITS for me.  I'm an old lady, 65, and probably dried up like an old prune and it sure hurt me tongue .

     The reason my OB/GYN doctor ordered one was because I was bleeding from the vagina about a month post op.  My surgeon told me it was probably from the operation but my GYN doctor wanted to be safe than sorry.  All was well.  Hope I never have to have one again. 

     Hubby said I am rusted from non-use...dirty old man devil .

Sherbear, my uterus is tilted too. In fact, it is very tilted that when I had my two kids, they didn't think I would be able to do a vaginal birth - but I managed anyway even tho it hurt like crazy in my back. Perhaps the tech put pressure on the wrong area when they did your ultrasound?

I don't know... it was so long ago that I don't really remember...I know it was uncomfortable having it done but not painful but later on that day I started developing back pain and the next day I could barely walk. It was awful Sherry (by the way I'm Sheri too :D ) have you ever had on GYN call in someone else to look at your uterus because its not seen alot? LOL

I had one a year or so ago. It wasn't too bad, a little uncomfortable of course but not painful for me.

Yeah, I am not worried about the ultrasound procedure. I actually had one 6 months ago because of some menstrual pain, plus I have super light periods. Butnit showed nothing. That's why I am hoping the Remicade didn't do something. I kind of have a feeling it's the uc. My GI said if the ultrasound is clear, then she wants acatscan or something.

My GI sent me too, day before Thanksgiving... the results werent good. Adenomyosis(sp), uterine fibroids, and my right ovary has cysts- at least they figured out my severe right side pain-

Carli, I was taking hyocymine and my doc told me not to take it to much, not sure why but I can find out.
