I'm slightly confused. I have an ileostomy, so obviously nothing gets into the 6 inches of colon that I have left. Why am I still taking Asacol since it's not disolved in the blood but in the colon? Usually, the whole asacol pill comes out in my bag. Anybody else ever wonder this?

I had the same thought when you first mentioned that you were taking Asacol. Could it be that the chemistry in the remaining colon will change over time? Pentasa will dissolve in the small bowel and may effectively treat the remaining colon you have. I'm unclear on what exactly your surgery left you with, but I think that your question is one I would definitely bring back to the GI.
