Gi raised 6mp to 125mg & something else

Just seen my gi today. Ive been flaring a few months now but not bad. Actually the last 4 weeks have been great. 1-2 bowels a day mostly formed, no blood/light urgency. sometimes no bowels in a day(backs me up and go more the next day). However I finished prednisone 3 days ago and noticed a bit of blood in my bowel yesterday but the day before i ate real bad haha. Alot of pizza, cookies, just not good at all. Today no blood but still a bit loose. Gi wanted me on remicade 2 months ago but said we can wait an said im good for 125mg 6mp with my weight. I go back for blood work next monday. How many of you take high doses of 6mp? Notice side effects? I never really noticed side effects from 6mp but i know the seriousness of the drug. Also, the past 2 days my tailbone area has been real sore but i didnt hurt it at all. I feel a sore pain if i push like im trying to have a bowel but when i put pressure on it with my finger i dont feel as much pain? Sound familiar anyone? Scheduling yearly colonoscopy next week. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

I just had my imuran dosage upped from 100 mg to 150 mg. Prometheus showed I was on the low end of the theraputic (sp??) range. I'm a female and weight 112. No new side effects. Has been about 4 1/2 weeks since dosage increase. My last cbc was good. Waiting on another prometheus to come back. Happy holidays :)

in my opinion you're still flaring. probably not so bad, but it's still a flare.

Hey Cadillac, It seems like the majority of us here take 50mg of 6mp but I don't think it's uncommon to take a higher dose, if you're not in the theraputic range and your liver will allow it. My liver always shows toxicity when I try to raise the dose and my WBC lowers too much so I am stuck at 50mg. Have you been getting the 6tgp/6mmp test to see whether you're in the theraputic range? I am not sure how helpful it is to raise the dose beyond the theraputic range. I was above the range for a while and it ended up supressing my immune system a lot and I became neutropenic and I had to stop 6mp until my blood counts went back to normal. Are you still using Canasa? Have you ever tried Rowasa? I have a feeling you're dealing with a little bit of inflammation that may be helped if you increase your rectals. You will know more when you have the colonoscopy.
